Description Alexander Isacson 2003-02-04 09:47:28 UTC
XMMS segfaults at startup after upgrading to xfree-4.2.99.4.

I tried to re-emerge xosd and XMMS without any luck. I had to remove the osd
entry from ~/.xmms/config to get it to start.

Comment 2 Alexander Isacson 2003-02-04 12:48:48 UTC
I remerged xosd again with the same results...
Comment 3 Alexander Isacson 2003-02-05 10:56:13 UTC
I upgraded to:

*  x11-libs/xosd
      Latest version installed: 2.1.0

and recomplied:

*  media-sound/xmms
      Latest version installed: 1.2.7-r18

and now xmms doesn't even compile the OSD plugin =(

I just emerged xosd, and xmms was fine with it...

did you emerge xmms again?

oops -- accidental re-assign, sorry lordvan -- sleepy :(
Comment 6 Alexander Isacson 2003-02-07 09:06:11 UTC
Sorry my bad. I thought that the plugin was distributed with Xmms but it's distributed with xosd.

I now recompiled both of them and xmms now picks up the plugin (both a new and an old version) but as soon as I enable it xmms segfaults. I even compiled xosd with -mcpu=i386 to remove ALL optimizaions.

I normally use  CFLAGS="-march=pentium4 -O3 -pipe".

So still no luck.
Comment 7 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-02-09 06:00:37 UTC
it segfaults on both, old and new?
Comment 8 Alexander Isacson 2003-02-09 06:22:59 UTC
Yes.

It seems that the drawing rutines don't work with xfree 4.2.99.4. I can enter the configurre dialog on both versions but as soon as I enable either of them xmms segfaults.

can you check with X-4.2.99.902 please?
Comment 10 Alexander Isacson 2003-02-26 06:28:53 UTC
I emerged it yesterday and it still crashes.
Comment 11 Alexander Isacson 2003-03-10 08:32:35 UTC
It now works with the 2.1.3 version of xosd. Thanks for your time.
