When first installing kde on gentoo many users notice that if they use kdm many users on their system such as "ftp", "cron" etc... are listed as possible login username. This can be remove by having kde change the default kdmrc in the following way: # Special case of HiddenUsers: users with a UID less than this number # (except root) will not be shown as well. Default is 0 MinShowUID=1000 # Complement to MinShowUID: users with a UID greater than this number will # not be shown as well. Default is 65535 MaxShowUID=65000 I believe that this should be the default configuration for kde on gentoo.
This has been default config since, iirc, 3.1. It certainly is now in kde cvs head. Please confirm.
This is now working fine in Gentoo (kde 3.1 and above).
