Hi. Please look at the file lincan-0.3.4_pre1.ebuild attached to this message. This ebuild installs a kernel module (can.ko) able to control some CANBus PCI and ISA adapters through a /dev/canX interface. The driver, developed under the project OCERA (http://www.ocera.org) is quite good and supports a wide number of cards. I made this ebuild for my personal use but I think it can be useful also to other people involved in CANBus-oriented projects. The current (stable) release is lincan-0.3.3 but in fact only the pre-release compiles against kernel > 2.6.16, so I submitted ebuilds for both. I haven't found any suitable category on the portage tree for this kind of ebuild, a new directory may be created? Something like "app-canbus"? Any suggestions?

Hello, The Gentoo Team would like to firstly thank you for your ebuild submission. We also apologize for not being able to accommodate you in a timely manner. There are simply too many new packages. Allow me to use this opportunity to introduce you to Gentoo Sunrise. The sunrise overlay[1] is a overlay for Gentoo which we allow trusted users to commit to and all users can have ebuilds reviewed by Gentoo devs for entry into the overlay. So, the sunrise team is suggesting that you look into this and submit your ebuild to the overlay where even *you* can commit to. =) Because this is a mass message, we are also asking you to be patient with us. We anticipate a large number of requests in a short time. Thanks, On behalf of the Gentoo Sunrise Team, Jeremy.
