Dear all! It started about a month ago. I had 2 PIII PC-s running hardened gentoo with X and KDE for 2 years STABLE! Then an X.org update came around with emerge -uDN world. After that these problems arose: - kicker freezes, with 99% CPU usage, can only be killed with -9 - kwebdesktop segfaults randomly - fonts appear with stripes - random stripes or black shapes appear on the screen - mozilla/firefox, thunderbird, seamonkey segfaults a lot with floating point exeption
I've tried to use a non-hardened kernel, but still the same. Also, I've reinstalled the whole gentoo on another PIII PC from scratch so that might help, but it didn't! It gets the same error!
I've also tried tuning the font settings, even turning off antialiasing, but that didn't help either! On a pentium-m notebook, with 2006.1 and hardened, pie, pic, ssp use flags, there is no problem, with the same programs. Recompiling kdebase, X.org, mozilla products didn't help. revdep-rebuild didn't help. Please help me, as I've lost all my working PCs which had been running linux for 6 years and 2-3 years with gentoo hardened! I cannot work anymore with them because they have become unusable 1-2 months ago! And my boss isn't going to buy me a P4 unfortunatlelly. And these PIII600-800 PCs are too slow for opensuse :)
1st machine: IBM 300PL PIII 600, 512Mb SDRAM with nvidia agp riva128 2nd machine: IBM Netvista 6578-F3G PIII 667, 384Mb SDRAM, intel i810 VGA 3rd machine: IBM Netfinity 5600 dual PIII 800, 1GB SDRAM with ECC, VNC X SERVER The same errors happen on different hardwares
Attach /etc/X11/xorg.conf and /var/log/Xorg.0.log then reopen, please.

I've added the required files. Please check on.
This is an einfo for the machine which' files I've attached. The only difference (I guess) is -fstack-protector-all flag, which was removed for the fresh install, so that I may eleminate the bad effects of it. The 2 PCs were functioning stable with fstack-protector-all for 2 years. Only glibc didn't compile with this flag. I'd recommend you try X 7.1. It will be in stable soon, but if you don't want to wait a day or two you can unmask xorg-server, mesa, mesa-progs and your drivers.
Dead bug. Reopen if you still have issues w/ >=xorg-server-1.3.0.0-r1; thanks.
