I thought it was only supposed to delete when I ask it to. I thought I should post this here first. I know that gentoo has changes to imapsync, at least in past builds. Thanks.

If you look at the imapsync-1.182.ebuild file, you'll notice that the only change Gentoo introduces to this software is a small patch for Makefile to honor $DESTDIR variable, so the thing installs into sandbox image correctly.
Okay, thank you. I will file a bug report with the imapsync author.
Closing as upstream. BTW, I just added 1.217 in the tree, which doesn't modify the software in any way.
