Bug 150053 – ati-drivers-8.29.6 needs masked module-init-tools

Hello,
I've just wanted to do an "emerge --newuse --deep --update world" but this has ended up with the following message:

[...]
sys-apps/module-init-tools-3.2.2-r1 (masked by: package.mask)
[...]
(dependency required by "x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.29.6" [ebuild])
[...]

BUT: "emerge =x11-drivers/ati-drivers-8.29.6" works fine though not solving the problem regarding updating world.

Isn't this an inconsistency?
Does ati-drivers-8.29.6 really need at least that version of module-init-tools?
It seems to work fine with my version installed: 3.1-r1.
