After emerging and starting up enlightenment several errors stating "ImageStateRealize: Hmmm... is->im is NULL (im_file=init/images/btn3.png real_file=/usr/local/enlightenment/themes/winter/init/images/btn3.png" show up and enlightenment looks really bad practically monochromatic and without window borders.
This is due to the missing "png" USE flag. In order to solve this issue modify your USE= flags in /etc/make.conf, insert "png" and re-emerge imlib2.

you can use an e theme that does not have png's so forcing it is incorrect
