When the machine boots, when net.eth0 or net.br0 (in my case) are started, they start fine, but the audit message saying that the interface has gone into promiscuous mode shows up on tty1 too. If I then (in X) do a /etc/init.d/net.br0 restart, the message is shown again on tty1 instead of being sent to /dev/console which is tty12 The error message that shows is: audit(1159655648.947:2): dev=eth0 prom=256 old_prom=0 auid=4294967295
you forgot to post `emerge info`, we can only guess without such information
