Description Keri Harris gentoo-dev 2006-09-30 15:14:39 UTC
Please test and stabilize dev-lang/swi-prolog-5.6.17-r1. It contains quite a few bug fixes from -5.6.8. Once this is stable, -5.6.8 will be punted.

Thanks,

Keri
Comment 1 Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-30 18:52:52 UTC
Do the tests work on the maintainer arch? I'm getting 6 test failures on SPARC.
Comment 2 Keri Harris gentoo-dev 2006-09-30 18:57:22 UTC
I've successfully ran the tests on x86, ppc and amd64. Which tests are failing on sparc?
Comment 3 Jason Wever (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-30 20:51:45 UTC
I'm getting 3 errors in the gmp tests, 1 in the atom_handling tests, 1 in the attvar tests and 1 in the charset tests. All of them are bus errors, which typically on SPARC means there are alignment issues somewhere in the code being run (as opposed to x86 where it could indicate HW issues). The actual errors are posted below:

@sparc: I've fixed the alignment problems with rational arithmetic, and it now works ok on bender. However, I'd still like to run a few more tests. I'll give you an update when we can proceed with stabilization on sparc.
Comment 6 Wormo (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-03 14:37:00 UTC
Keri: all tests passed except for an sgml test script. I did a hack to fix the missing procedure and then the sgml tests passed as well. I'll post the error here FYI, but not going to hold off on marking stable since it's just test code.

sgml_test.pl.patch

Christian, I'm interested in having a look at the sgml test failures; I'm unable to reproduce them here. Can you apply the attached patch to pl-5.6.17/packages/sgml/Test/test.pl and rerun the sgml tests? It'll allow us to see why the 'compare_errors/2' predicate is failing.

Thanks,

Keri

The output around sgml test is:

Test ./amp.sgml ... ok [Different errors]
OK:

ANSWER:

swi-prolog-sgml-test.patch

Thanks for the dump of the sgml test Christian. It looks like the errors are caused by having the SGML_CATALOG_FILES environment variable point to non-existant catalog files. Can you confirm this?

I've attached another patch for the sgml test-suite that explicitely unsets this environment variable. Can you see if this works for you?

Thanks,

Keri

It does for sgml. But other tests show:

Thanks for the update Christian. I've patched the sgml, sgml/RDF and semweb tests to handle an errant SGML_CATALOG_FILES environment variable.

The CHR test warnings are expected behaviour. :)
