hi out there, i just downloaded livecd images from the mirrow ftp.tu-clausthal.de and noticed that the md5sums on the server don't equal the ones i generate on my system. As this could be a major problem i wanted to state this. i'm refering to: http://ftp.tu-clausthal.de/pub/linux/gentoo/releases/1.4_rc2/x86/i686/livecd and /athlon/livecd regards ali
As of Feb 10, 11 2003, the md5 checksum fails with the i686 livecd from gatech.edu and purdue.edu Both files report 550 502 400 bytes and this is the md5 hash I got from the ftp sites: b7632b47c08415e351cd75ccd6cdffbd gentoo-grp-i686-1.4_rc2.iso -- drenton@royfoss.com
Here's a follow up to my comment. If I change the syntax of the md5 file which is currently: hash<space><space>filename to: hash<space><asterix>filename then the md5 check succeeds. Strange. I'm using Win2K and the Compaq, Cygwin and ActiveState md5sum programs. All programs required the above syntax change for the md5 check to pass.
just checked and the files appear to be fine now. closing bug.
