Bug 14913 – [OpenOffice.org] Help files aren't found

In openoffice-1.0.1-r* and -1.0.2, the help files are installed under
/opt/openoffice[ver]/help but the application doesn't find them. If it's not a
mistake I made it's rather strange no one filed a bug report for this.

The help browser always shows: "The requested document does not exist in the
database !!"

well they exist for me, are you trying to use a different language?  right now we don't support different langs...sorry :/

Um, no, I talk about a out-of-the-box compile (means a LARGE box) of openoffice.org, the only thing I have is LANG=de_DE.UTF8, but as oo.org completly speaks english here I don't think it pays any attention to that setting.
