Actually, it does build fine here with gcc-4.1.1 with quite a sameish setup (just a T2400 instead of your T2500 ;) ) The only difference I can see, is that you use a non-nptl-profile...

Do you have stlport installed on your system? Mabye that is interfering in some weird way. You might also try out 2.0.4_rc2 and see if that works.
Comment 4 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-24 13:01:28 UTC
aha, so it was an nptl profile -- that was certainly not on purpose -- it's a brand new install from the 2006.* CD. I've switched and am recompiling gcc/glibc and stuff. I'll try again. I do not seem to have STLport installed independently, btw.

Might be solved with rc2.

Why do you believe that? Some more info than just "might be solved"?
Comment 7 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-27 10:09:03 UTC
so I switched to the nptl profile (no effing idea why non-nptl is the default for x86) and tried again (after recompiling the toolchain). This time, it went on for a long long time, but segfaulted at some point. So probably heat or something, I dunno.

Seemant, any news on this? Some reproducable error?
Comment 9 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-10 07:25:15 UTC
No news, can't reproduce. Thanks Suka.
