Hello, i didn't investigate too far, but /usr/sbin/faxsetup traps interrupt signals and erases $TMPDIR. Also TMPDIR is used by the system and some applications to define where to write temporary files i.e in /var/tmp or /tmp. In my case, TMPDIR is set up to /var/tmp on my disk. AFAIK, /tmp i generally locked in memory and could not be removed when the system is running. So it seems not to happen when TMPDIR is /tmp. If you interrupt faxsetup by sending a signal 15 or ctrl-c, faxsetup traps the signal and removes $TMPDIR directory. Please, could you check this behavior and confirm the problem. It could lead to a system crash. Thx, Jj
Was tested with the package net-misc/hylafax-4.3.0 but certainly could append with older version.
This is really an upstream bug, and since there's a Hylafax bugzilla, I'd encourage you to submit this bug to the upstream developers. For now, you can set TMPDIR to a safe value near the top of the script.

I already posted a bug and they fixed it in their repo. Sorry I didn't say anything...
