Description Mikael Gerdin 2006-09-22 10:34:48 UTC
Now that laptops with Intel's Core 2 Duo CPU has entered the market, some people (like me) want to run them in 64-bit mode.
Most of these laptops use Intel's ProWireless 3945-chip for wireless networking.
I have tested the driver by manually editing the ebuilds (adding ~amd64 keyword), and it works, at least with my AP at home.
The ebuilds are:
net-wireless/ipw3945
net-wireless/ipw3945d
net-wireless/ipw3945-ucode

I can confirm several successfull (and working) compiles on Intel Core2 Duo by adding ~amd64 in the ebuild files. Works like a charm, please add the keyword to the regular ebuild (I have a copy of it in my portdir_overlay).
Comment 6 Thomas Fischer 2006-12-12 01:45:46 UTC
Confirmed that this package works fine with a Core 2 Duo T7400 CPU (~amd64). Please add the ~amd64 keyword.

Comment 7 Lloeki 2006-12-14 08:27:42 UTC
confirmed to work flawlessly on my dell xps c2d T7200, running amd64 and relevant versions like comment #6
I too recommend it for a ~amd64.
Comment 8 Radek Podgorny 2006-12-16 07:16:18 UTC
Another success here on T5600 (Intel Core 2 Duo).
Comment 9 Erik Quaeghebeur 2006-12-16 07:27:23 UTC
(In reply to comment #3)
The problem I encountered seems to be resolved:

I installed (on a core 2 duo system with mostly stable amd64 gentoo):
* net-wireless/ieee80211-1.2.15
* net-wireless/ipw3945-ucode-1.13
* net-wireless/ipw3945d-1.7.22-r3
* net-wireless/ipw3945-1.1.3

I therefore also request the necessary packages go ~amd64.
Comment 10 wojtek 2006-12-17 17:30:12 UTC
no problem with
* net-wireless/ieee80211-1.2.15
* net-wireless/ipw3945-ucode-1.13
* net-wireless/ipw3945d-1.7.18

everything works on Core 2 Duo ( T5600 ~amd64)
Comment 11 davide.angelocola 2006-12-24 16:57:38 UTC
I confirme, ipw3945 build and run on amd64. Please add the ~amd64 keyword.
Comment 12 Piotr Jaroszyński (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-12-28 14:26:19 UTC
Thank you all for testing, all done.
