The installer copies everything but fails in the step of setting the root password. I did some debugging and found out that the problem relies in that the installer doesn't install the "pam" libraries to the chrooted filesystem and that's why passwd fails: Exception recieved during 'Set the root password': SetRootPasswrodError :FATAL: set_root_password: Failure to set root password! Traceback (most recent call alst): File "/opt/installer/GLIClientController.py", line 197, in run self._install_steps[self_install_step]['function']() File "/opt/installer/GLIArchitectureTemplate.py", line 121.6, in set_root_password raise GLIException("SetRootPasswordError", 'fata', 'set_root_password', "Failure to set root password!") GLIException: SetRootPasswordError :FATAL: set_root_password: Failure to set root password!
This is actually a bug in the CD, which we are about to rectify by issuing a newer CD.
Mmm... I tryed to install gentoo from the LiveCD and it worked, but the LiveDVD didn't.
Well, to be honest, this bug is actually "FIXED" as there's a newer LiveDVD that resolves this on bittorrent, already. However, we are pushing a newer update out today (hopefully) that also fixes another bug, which is why the update was never announced. We will be announcing the new update on the front page and in the GWN, so look for the notification. I will, of course, also notify you via this bug.
