Comment 2 Rene Gass 2006-10-02 17:17:30 UTC
This bug seems to have been introduced by fontconfig-2.4.1. Reverting to fontconfig-2.3.2-r1 solved the issue for me.
Comment 3 Rene Gass 2006-10-02 17:41:01 UTC
That should have been fontconfig-2.3.2-r2 instead.
Comment 4 Rene Gass 2006-10-21 02:47:37 UTC
Anything new on this? Is this a fontconfig bug that should be reported? Should lilypond block on >=fontconfig-2.4?
Comment 5 Jean Bréfort 2006-11-05 01:03:56 UTC
It builds for me but crashes on startup. Upgrading to 2.8.8 makes things work. I just did:

cd /usr/portage/media-sound/lilypond
cp lilypond-2.8.0-r1.ebuild lilypond-2.8.8.ebuild
digest lilypond-2.8.8 digest
emerge lilypond

Of course, an official ebuild would be much better, but I need lilypond and couldn't wait anymore.

Sure. So then what is your setup?

I know this may seem harsh, but if the rest of us can do that too then all well and good. But ATM I think more information is needed esp. about eg what font-config are you running, did you see any other errors, and are you able to build the system so it will pass it's own examples.

Please be specific.

If we can get enough ppl trying this approach, maybe all that needs to happen is we have the devs try it too and then that, or slightly modified one, becomes the 'official' version.

Best,
sonofthejedi

I've tried fontconfig-2.4.1 and lilypond-2.8.8:

emerge -pv fontconfig
[ebuild R ] media-libs/fontconfig-2.4.1 USE="xml -doc" 0 kB

emerge -pv lilypond
[ebuild U ] media-sound/lilypond-2.8.8 [2.8.0-r1] USE="vim -debug -doc -emacs -profile" 0 kB [1]
 [1] /usr/local/portage

lilypond failed to build:

Comment 9 Rene Gass 2006-11-07 11:42:06 UTC
Hmm, lilypond compiled the second time I tried it, probably because I forgot to restart my X session after updating fontconfig. So fontconfig-2.4.1 and lilypond-2.8.8 together work for me.
Comment 10 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-03-16 19:12:04 UTC
please try a recent ebuild from bug 132706
Comment 11 Marijn Schouten (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-13 15:24:26 UTC
please use 2.10.23
