User-Agent: Build Identifier: I did an emerge sync and found that there is a new version of openoffice in the stable branch...1.0.1-r3 to be exact. Figuring that this fixed the g++ path not found bug, I downloaded it. Unfortunately, it gives me an error message saying that it has only been tested to work with blackdown-jdk-1.4.1-beta, and that I have to use all other jdk's at my own risk...I then searched for the latest blackdown-jdk and found that blackdown-jdk-1.4.1-beta is in the unstable branch by typing ACCEPT_KEYWORDS'"~x86". The stable package depends on having a program installed that is listed in the unstable branch. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Make sure that blackdown-jdk-1.4.1-beta is not installed 2.type "emerge openoffice" 3. Actual Results: * * This ebuild has only been tested with the blackdown port of * java. If you use another java implementation, it could fail * horribly, so please merge the blackdown-jdk and set it as * system VM before proceeding: * * # emerge blackdown-jdk * # java-config --set-system-vm=blackdown-jdk-1.4.1_beta * # env-update * # source /etc/profile * * At the time of writing, this was version 1.4.1_beta, so please * adjust the version according to the version installed in * /opt. * * If you however want to test another JDK (not officially supported), * you could do the following: * * # export FORCE_JAVA=yes * !!! ERROR: app-office/openoffice-1.0.1-r3 failed. !!! Function pkg_setup, Line 137, Exitcode 0 !!! (no error message) Expected Results: Should have been tested and used with another jdk, one from the stable branch, such as sun-jdk, sun-j2dk, ibm-jdk, older version of blackdown, etc. Introducing "unstable" packages into my computers is generally a bad idea since I can not afford software conflicts or crashes bringing it down and offline. I currently have installed sun-j2sdk-1.4.0 (the emerge that builds the sun jdk from source, useful for getting Java to work with Mozilla), and blackdown jdk-1.3.1-r7.
it works with the blackdown 1.3 betas as well, and it will not build with the sun jdk stuff (idlc segfaults...) if you want to set it up for blackdown 1.3, then do that... all that message is telling you is that you don't have a blackdown jdk as your system default....
