Hi, what I have read on the forums [1] and on bugzilla [2], >=udev-096 has now hotplug and coldplug functionality and supersedes these packages. The udev guide [3] states, that hotplug and coldplug work together with udev for loading modules. An update to the udev guide to clarify this would be great. That is an unstable version of udev. Until the udev version that can handle both hotplug and coldplug is marked stable (because it also requires a pretty recent kernel version; I've tried it), *and* until hotplug and coldplug are both finally marked deprecated & removed from Portage, the guide needs to stay as is.
