Description Volker Wegert 2006-09-17 12:37:27 UTC
Is there a special reason why net-misc/sendfile is keyworded to x86 and ppc only and not at least -amd64 or ~amd64? I'd like to use sendfile on an amd64 box - will provide info on whether it's working :-)
Comment 1 Jakub Moc (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-17 12:38:15 UTC
So try it and reopen if it works.
Comment 2 Volker Wegert 2006-09-17 13:05:31 UTC
Works for me - just sent several megs from an x86 to ym amd64 box without problems or file corruption.
Comment 3 Christoph Mende (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-21 14:57:56 UTC
there's a missing dependency when executing fetchfile -I:
sh: pgp: command not found
%fetchfile-Fatalerror: pgp call failed : No such file or directory
Comment 4 Olivier Crete (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-14 14:52:55 UTC
well.. you probably need pgp if you want pgp...
Comment 5 Volker Wegert 2006-10-15 02:58:46 UTC
Sorry, this is not what the initial bug report was about, please re-check both title and initial post. The question was whether net-misc/sendfile could be moved from ~amd64 to amd64, Christoph Mende just "hijacked" this entry.
Comment 6 Christoph Mende (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-15 05:25:59 UTC
Well, I tested it, to see if it's stable - ran into that missing dep or whatever. BTW I do have gnupg-1.4.5 and gnupg-1.9.21 installed, tried to tell sendfile to use gpg instead of pgp which didn't work. And IMHO there shouldn't be any packages in a stable branch that are missing dependencies ;)

Full ACK, but this dependency problem is not amd64 specific - the dependency just isn't there, for none of the architectures...

broken deps, no maintainer, sending to treeclaners
Comment 9 Volker Wegert 2006-12-03 02:56:15 UTC
Wonderful.

Did you want it ~amd64 or stable on amd64?

cause it was ~arched in October..

Comment 12 Volker Wegert 2006-12-06 12:19:51 UTC
ãmd64 is fine with me - I use it frequently and I'm not experiencing any problems, but I'm not a maintainer (and currently don't have the time to become one).
