Description Julien Cynober 2006-09-17 06:42:25 UTC
Hi,
When I try to change a numerical value in the property palette (i.e. resize an object or set its X and Y position), this value is automatically reset to 0, either when I enter the value with the keyboard or when I try to change it by clicking on the arrows located on the right of value box.
Scribus-1.3.3.3 is the only application affected by this problem ; all other Qt or Gtk based apps work correctly.
This bug is very annoying since I cannot set with precision the properties of the objects.

The output of my 'emerge --info' :

Portage 2.1.1 (default-linux/x86/2006.1, gcc-4.1.1, glibc-2.4-r3, 2.6.17-gentoo-r8 i686)

What locale are you running under?
Have you tried rebuilding Qt without the immqt module?
Try "LANG=en scribus" too. The custom spinboxes work 100% apart from one strange situation we are trying to track down.
Comment 2 Julien Cynober 2006-09-27 05:22:50 UTC
My locale is "fr_FR.UTF-8".
I didn't try to rebuild Qt without the immqt module.
I tried "LANG=en scribus" but I didn't see any difference, the bug didn't disappear.

Try rebuilding your Qt.. its a common point amongst those that see this issue.

no reply from reporter, closing, please re-open if it is still an issue.

Scribus is still affected by this bug.
Sorry, I didn't want to recompile qt because I would also have to recompile all the programs depending on it. BTW, the incompatibility between scribus and immqt is a bug, isn't it ?
Comment 6 Craig Bradney 2006-11-27 15:44:37 UTC
Try running "LC_ALL=C scribus" from command line. You dont have to rebuild all apps that use qt if you rebuild qt.. I never have had to, especially when you return to the same version by recompiling with old options at the end anyway. If anything the bug is with immqt rather than Scribus, given there are absolutely no issues with Scribus custom spinboxes when Qt does not have immqt built in.
Comment 7 Julien Cynober 2006-12-04 04:52:59 UTC
I retried "LC_ALL=C scribus" this morning... and it worked. The property palette has no problem now, the user interface is still in french - everything is allright. I don't know what has changed since my last try, a few days ago.
So, thank you for this workaround, now I can use scribus under linux.

Note on immqt : the qt ebuild displays a warning when trying to compile qt with immqt :
"You are going to compile binary incompatible immodule for Qt. This means you have to recompile everything depending on Qt after you install it. Be aware."
That's why I supposed that I would have to recompile everything depending on qt if I rebuilt it without immqt.
Comment 8 Julien Cynober 2006-12-06 06:03:31 UTC
Should I close this bug and open a new one on immqt ? I looked for a similar bug in gentoo bugzilla with the keywords "immqt" and "qt", but I didn't find it.
Comment 9 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2007-01-10 04:45:08 UTC
Yep, open a bug for qt, this one seems to be done so.
