gpgmeplug is no longer included as part of gpgme, it is avaiable under a separate package now called 'cryptplug'. An ebuild is forthcoming.

I added a (masked) ebuild called cryptplug, please test it out. I notice it installs into a differently named directory (/usr/lib/cryptplug) so you may need to change a configuration somewhere. Please let me know if this works for you.

it emerges correctly and seems to work.

well. i checked it out more deeply
and only one of the two plugins the package installs
seems to work:
gpgme-smime fails to load in kmail and i can't
get it working in any way :(

Have you seen this page?

http://kmail.kde.org/kmail-pgpmime-howto.html

There is no mention of the smime plugin at all there.

S/MIME support is mentioned in relation to the Agypten project. Perhaps this project and/or other additional software is required.

For any Ägypten-enabled mail user agent:
 libgcrypt-1.1.10.tar.gz (700KB)
 libksba-0.4.6.tar.gz (500KB)
opensc-0.7.0wk1.tar.gz (700KB, optional for smartcard support)
 newpg-0.9.4.tar.gz (400KB)
 gpgme-0.3.14.tar.gz (700KB)
 cryptplug-0.3.15.tar.gz (250KB)
 dirmngr-0.4.3.tar.gz (200KB)
 pinentry-0.6.7.tar.gz (300KB)

Quite a laundry list for Agypten.

Since cryptplug is available now, shouldn't this be closed?
Comment 10 J Robert Ray 2003-03-01 13:57:39 UTC
I'll buy that.
