(this issue should probablu be taken up with ATI linux driver developers, but maybe somebody here knows) I'm trying to get ati-drivers-8.28.8 to work with my radeon X800 (there is also a PCI Radeon 9200 in the system). xorg-x11-7.1. Bebuild compilles and installs, when radeon and drm modules are unloaded fglrx.ko installs fine. When i try to use fglrx instead of radeon in existing xorg.conf X won't start. When i try X -configure it also fails. emerge --info Portage 2.1.1 (default-linux/x86/2006.1/desktop, gcc-4.1.1, glibc-2.3.6-r4, 2.6.17-gentoo-r2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.17-gentoo-r2 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+ Gentoo Base System version 1.12.4 Last Sync: Tue, 12 Sep 2006 21:30:01 +0000 app-admin/eselect-compiler: [Not Present] dev-lang/python: 2.2.3-r5, 2.3.5-r2, 2.4.3-r1 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: [Not Present] dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r1 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.12-r4 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.11-r2 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math -mfpmath=sse" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3.4/env /usr/kde/3.4/share/config /usr/kde/3.4/shutdown de/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/gconf /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer -ffast-math -mfpmath=sse" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://trumpetti.atm.tut.fi/gentoo/ http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://distro.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" LINGUAS="" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --e '/distfiles' --exclude='/local' --exclude='/packages'" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3DNowExt 3dnow 3dnowext X a52 aac acpi alsa apache2 bash-completion bitmap-fonts bzlib cairo cdr cjk cli crypt cups dbus divx4linux dlloader dvd dvdr dvdread eds elibc_glibc emboss encode escreen esd exif fam ffmpeg firefox flac font-server gif gimp gkrellm glut gnome gps gstreamer gtk hal p imagemagick innodb input_devices_evdev input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse input_devices_wacom isdnlog jp2 jpeg kde kernel_linux ldap lesstif lirc lirc_devices_serial live lufsusermount lzw-tiff mad matroska mikmod mime mmx mmx2 mmxext moznocompose moznoirc moznomail mozplaintext mozsvg mp3 player msql musepack nas ncurses nls nomac nptl nptlonly nsplugin ode ogg openal opengl operanom2 pam pcre perl pie png ppds pppd python qt3 qt4 quick otes radeon rar readline real reflection rtc scanner sdl session sndfile spell spl sse ssl subtitles svg tcpd truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev e usb userland_GNU v4l v4l2 video_cards_ati video_cards_radeon video_cards_v4l video_cards_vesa video_cards_vga vorbis win32codecs wsconvert xine xml andr xv xvid zlib" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LC_ALL, LDFLAGS, MAKEOPTS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS
