My error is slightly different; apperently, it;s about at the same spot in the compilation, but mine it not complaining about:

Forgot:
locate libstdc++.so
/opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/libstdc++.so.5
/opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.1/program/libstdc++.so.5.0.2
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.1/libstdc++.so
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.1/libstdc++.so.5
/usr/lib/gcc-lib/i686-pc-linux-gnu/3.2.1/libstdc++.so.5.0.2
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.7.2
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.7.2.8
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.2.8.0

So the version 5.0.1 the ebuild is looking for is really not there. I think somewhere in the ebuild a lot of magic is performed to find out the correct version of libstdc++.so. And somewhere, this goed wrong (and I'm not smart enough to figure it out :-) )
Comment 4 Peter Ruskin 2003-01-30 07:52:11 UTC
I tried it again overnight. It appeared to have completed satisfactorily but nothing worked and I had to do some restoring from archives to get 1.0.1 again.

Yeah, the same to me. After compiling succesfully there where a lot of files missing.
So i cleared this installation and emerged openoffice-bin...
Comment 6 AlterEgo 2003-01-31 14:23:27 UTC
2nd attempt, with no changes but the CFLAGS:
CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -Os -pipe"
It just builds and works ?? Wierd!
Comment 7 Seth Chandler 2003-01-31 15:09:40 UTC
i masked openoffice-1.0.2 to -x86 becuase i have to go through and find and fix a lot
of the problems...
Comment 8 Seth Chandler 2003-01-31 19:05:22 UTC
alright this should be fixed now
Comment 9 Peter Ruskin 2003-02-01 09:08:19 UTC
I tried again and after several hours the emerge completed...but ooffice setup failed and /opt/OpenOffice.org1.0.2/ only contains the user directory
Comment 10 Peter Ruskin 2003-02-01 09:24:02 UTC
I've just started again, using AlterEgo's CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -Os -pipe". Wish me luck ;-)

tell me what `echo $LANGUAGE` says

i see you're tryin to do en_GB, and language support is something we dont' quite
have hooked up yet
Comment 13 Jens Kreiensiek 2003-02-10 14:57:20 UTC
Same here. $LANGUAGE isn't set, but $LANG='de_DE@euro' ...
Comment 14 Peter Ruskin 2003-02-10 17:37:05 UTC
$ echo $LANGUAGE
en_GB:en
Comment 15 Michael Labhard 2003-02-17 22:53:12 UTC
I have the same problem with no program directory and a broken sym link for setup. On my system $LANG=en_US.
Comment 16 Leon Chiver 2003-03-12 10:59:28 UTC
I'm another one having only a few files installed. I have no setup directory, only a broken link, and a user directory with a few files. On my computer both $LANG and $LANGUAGE are not set.
Comment 17 Peter Ruskin 2003-04-28 15:19:21 UTC
1.0.3 is OK here
Comment 18 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2003-04-28 15:31:04 UTC
great, closing this
