Description Peter Volkov (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-13 12:08:45 UTC
Hello.

Some days ago I encounter message in gentoo-ru about problem that openoffice-2.0.4_rc1 does not allow to save any document because of permission problem. I decided to reproduce and I emerged new version of office and... I reproduced the problem. Any attempt to save document fails with (I'll try to translate russian message into English) "Error while saving document: Object inaccessible. Access is not allowed because of user permissions."

Of course I've checked that I try to save in writable directory (home directory), and user reported that he even tried to save from root user.

BTW. Is it possible to start OO with english interface to report message in english?

TIA.

Not necessary, I can reproduce the bug. Still this is a (package.mask'ed) pre-release, so problems are to be expected...

Der Bug sollte upstream bereits gefixt sein

Sorry for going all german in here ;) You might have guessed it yourself: That was meant to say that this bug should have already been fixed upstream, so the next pre-release shouldn't suffer from this anymore (ok, that was now a longer version ;) )

I know that it hardmasked. But I've experienced problems with previous version, where impress (actually the only app I'm using in OO) was not manage to save into file that was opened... But it was possible to save to another file. Thus normally I have report.odp and repot_1.odp and that's all. But this problem hurts even more and I had some time to experiment with new openoffice, thus I just wanted to point developers attention to the problem ASAP. And I'm very glad to see that it was fixed at least UPSTREAM. Thank you, Andreas.

I've just added a patch to solve this problem. Unfortunately you'll have to recompile OOo. Already tested it sucessfully, so closing this bug.
