Description Philipp Droessler 2003-01-29 14:26:03 UTC
I tried to emerge KDE 3.1 via emerge world, but got an error when the system
wanted to build the i18n-package first, which is dependent on the kde-3.1-libs
and base. the workaround is to manually build kde 3.1 in this order:

arts
kde-libs
kde-base
...everything else...
kde-i18n-foo

also, please note that kde-addons needs kde-games, and kde-artwork depends on
xscreensaver to compile the kde screensavers.

please post the bug you encountered ...
by doing `emerge kde -u` it worked for me and many other people

kde-i18n was broken, sorry for that. this is fixed in cvs.

only thing left in this bug report is that kdeartwork should depend on
xscreensavers. any comments on that?

kdeartwork itself does not depend on xscreensaver, however, kdeartwork is just a pack of themes, color-sets, .. and screensavers, and those screensavers do not work without xscreensaver, at least that's what the xartwork package says when you manually ./configure it.

Well, I don't have xscreensaver emerged, but the savers from kdeartwork are built and work
here (a total of 24 I think). configure indeed produces a warning about xscrensaver not being
found, but it doesn't say something won't be built because of it, where did you see that?

Anyone? More info on that?

Doesn't seem like a pressing bug, if it indeed is one. Closing as a NEEDINFO as last request
for comment was > 6 weeks ago.
