Description David Li 2006-09-12 06:50:33 UTC
ipw2200 1.1.4 was released on Aug. 20 while the most recent version in portage is ipw2200-1.1.3.
http://ipw2200.sourceforge.net/

Also, ieee80211-1.2.15 was released on Aug. 20 while the most recent version in portage is ieee80211-1.1.14-r1 which is still hard masked.

As far as i know, the maintainer was complaining about some issues with >=ieee80211-1.2.14. That's why it's masked!
Actually, the maintainer is waiting for upstream to release a new major version - something like ieee80211-2.0 i think ...

But if ipw2200 1.1.4 does work with ieee80211-1.2.13, then i don't see any reason for not putting it into portage.

I just commited net-wireless/ieee80211-1.2.15 and net-wireless/ipw2200-1.2.0 to the tree. They are currently masked since I can't say yet if they work or if they are going to mess around with stuff even more than before (see the ieee80211 breakage).

I suggest anyone keen enough can test them by unmasking those packages via package.unmask.

Works for me with USRobotics 9106 access point using WEP.

Works for me too, at least the same way it used to be with previous versions. I use WPA2-PSK with CCMP+TKIP. I was hoping this new ieee80211 version would fix once and for all my "TKIP: ICV error detected" kernel messages, but unfortunately, I get those messages even more now :(
