Description Daniele Salatti 2006-09-11 14:36:10 UTC
At first I got this error on a amd64 (stable) box while emerging Gnome, then I tryed reinstalling gentoo ~amd64 but I got the same error. I already tried python-updater and remerging libxslt. Below are my emerge --info output and the build error.

emerge --info:

FWIW, this was first discussed on the AMD64 list, then bugged at my suggestion after nobody else had any suggestions. Here's the link to the top of the thread:

http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.linux.gentoo.amd64/8852

I'm running ~amd64 and while I don't have GNOME installed (KDE's my thing), I was able to test-merge the package without issue, so it's not a general arch issue. After a bug search, I suggested trying python-updater and remerging libxslt based on bugs from previous versions, but that didn't seem to help this time. =8^( I figured it must be time to get the Gentoo GNOME experts involved. =8^)

Here's a somewhat abbreviated emerge --info from my install where it merged fine:

I'll attach an emerge --pretend gnome so you know what packages I do /not/ have merged, in case it's a conflict with something previously merged while attempting to merge gnome. (gnome-doc-utils had no unfilled dependencies of its own, making it a quick test merge. =8^)

emerge -pv gnome output (from a merges-fine system)

emerge --pretend --verbose gnome output, truncated at the package in question. Again, this is from a system where the gnome-doc-utils-0.6.1 package merges just fine. Possible conflict between something in this list (and therefore presumably already merged on the problem system) and the package in question?
Comment 3 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-11-05 20:35:13 UTC
try re-emerging:

emerge -av =app-text/docbook-xml-dtd-4.4*

and report back.

Thanks
