Description Uwe Klosa 2006-09-11 10:40:03 UTC
The latest version of mplayerplug_in does not work on my system in firefox. Always when I wanted to watch a film on web page the mplayer frame showed the message "no picture" and after a few seconds I got a segfault in firefox.

Downgrading to 3.30 solved the problem.

It works fine here, can you make sure you've compiled mplayer with the appropriate use flags and mplayerplug-in with the plugin for the type of media you're trying to watch?

What's the site that keeps failing? Does it work on other sites?
Comment 2 Uwe Klosa 2006-09-12 00:54:44 UTC
It does not work om all pages wich show a film of type wmv. I've been using mplayer and mplayerplug-in for almost 2 years now and I always have used the ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="~x86" as you can see in my emerge --info. It is the first time I had this issue.

Here are my flags:

[ebuild R ] media-video/mplayer-1.0_pre8-r1 USE="X aac aalib alsa cdparanoia dts dv dvd dvdread encode esd gif gtk jpeg live lzo mad mmx opengl oss png real samba sdl speex sse sse2 truetype unicode vorbis win32codecs xmms xv xvid -3dfx -3dnow -3dnowext (-altivec) -amr -arts -bidi -bindist -bl -cpudetection -custom-cflags -debug -dga -directfb -doc -dvb -enca -fbcon -ggi -iconv -ipv6 -jack -joystick -libcaca -lirc -livecd -matrox -mmxext -musepack -nas -openal -rtc -svga -tga -theora -v4l -v4l2 -x264 -xanim -xinerama -xvmc" 0 kB

[ebuild U ] net-www/mplayerplug-in-3.31-r1 [3.30] USE="gtk quicktime%* real%* -divx% -gmedia% -wmp%" 0 kB

Is there a flag I shouldn't use?
Comment 3 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-12 05:36:16 UTC
Try enabling the wmp plugin (use flag wmp), it enables windows media support. Does that help? There were a bunch of new use flags added to the latest version of mplayerplug-in to control some available media types. If this doesn't work, is there any output the command line from firefox when it crashes? Can you try setting mplayer to default to x11 (and not xv) output?
Comment 4 Uwe Klosa 2006-09-12 06:17:26 UTC
Adding the wmp flag fixed the problem. Thanks for the help
Comment 5 Joe Jezak (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-12 06:28:23 UTC
No worries.
