Description Paul Taylor 2006-09-11 10:27:28 UTC
Problem described in URL; has been broken since eternal-lands-1.3.0-r1.
The suggested fix - changing the name-font and chat-font values to 1 or 2 changes the font used in the initial games screens and the characters' names, but the game messages and chat windows are still solid blocks. This makes the game unplayable.

Comment 1 Roy Marples (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-26 04:30:54 UTC
Could you try moving your ~/.elc folder to ~/.elc-backup and re-running the game to see if that fixes?
Comment 2 Paul Taylor 2006-09-26 15:16:14 UTC
I had removed the .elc directory completely in the past without solving the problem, so I suspect that my recent "emerge -e world" rebuild fixed something.

I also uninstalled eternal-lands and eternal-lands-data, and removed what was left of /usr/share/games/eternal-lands (update files) before reinstalling it.

The move to the new server (games.eternal-lands.com) may also have changed something.

At any rate, the problem is solved - thanks.
