the error is obvious:
conftest.c:84:23: error: ldap.h: No such file or directory

do you openldap installed ?

I just run into some ldap-related troubles too, but I have another errror message:

Odd, that last issue should be solved by a patch that we know include in the
ebuild, can you check that openssh-4.3_p2-ldap-updates.patch is being applied?

ignoring the fact your report has nothing to do with this one, your tree is obviously out of date ... sync up
Comment 8 kavol 2006-10-02 05:27:05 UTC
(In reply to comment #7)
> your tree is obviously out of date ...

maybe it could be because of interrupted sync - the sync date was old but the -r4 version appeared as update that day ...

but I do not understand one thing - how could not synced portage tree lead to situation where it (-r4) was marked as stable without the patch? I still smell something rotten :-p

> sync up

yes, -r5 compiles fine

thankyou for you effort and sorry for my mistake
Comment 9 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2006-12-31 03:27:46 UTC
latest versions should be fine
