When I run full-screen games that use SDL (e.g., tuxracer), I can't use global KDE shortcuts - switch to other programs using Alt-Tab, change volume using multimedia keys, etc. I don't know if that's a bug in the game, in SDL, in KWin, or in the X server. Multiple games have this behavior, so it's probably not a game bug. Non-SDL programs - e.g., Windows games running in Wine - work fine, usually. So it's likely an SDL bug. But, even if SDL captures the mouse and the keyboard - should the window manager still be able to control them?

(In reply to comment #0) > likely an SDL bug. But, even if SDL captures the mouse and the keyboard - > should the window manager still be able to control them? Geeez nooooo. Hard to imagine a thing more annoying that pressing some keys combo only to drop out of a game. (There are actually utilities to disable this stupid behaviour for Windows.) Please, don't "fix" this "bug".
Hm... But shouldn't there be *some* way to temporarily leave the game? Also, changing the volume seems kind of harmless.
it's a feature; sdl games capture the input thus the window manager is not allowed to see keystrokes
