arpwatch-2.1.13-r3 fails to start when using the '-p' option. arpwatch-2.1.11-r1 worked with no problems. the man page says: The -p flag disables promiscuous operation. ARP broadcasts get through hubs with- out having the interface in promiscuous mode, while saving considerable resources that would be wasted on processing gigabytes of non-broadcast traffic. OTOH, set- ting promiscuous mode does not mean getting 100% traffic that would concern arp- watch . YMMV. (Debian specific) please bring this option back. thanks.
Thank you for report, Rajiv! That was really odd problem and because arpwatch-2.1.13 currently seems to be broken. I'd like to test and stabilize arpwatch-2.1.15 ASAP. I added arpwatch-2.1.15 in the tree and this problem should be solved there. Please, test and report here (you do not need to reopen bug) or directly by mail.
-p option is now accepted by .15... however the -u option no longer works.
Thank you for report. I found that problem also :) I'll fix add arpwatch-2.1.15-r2 ASAP.
Just added arpwatch-2.1a15-r1. Fixed bug which caused arpwatch to freeze in some conditions and -p -u work. At least I've spent some time and checked that all options work. Also check man page for some new features ;) And of course if you have some time to report, please, do. Thank you for heads up again, Rajiv.
