New DISTFILES-ONLY mirror: mirror.utdlug.org. We support HTTP, FTP, and rsync on standard ports. We will eventually upgrade to a full mirror, once we get more storage. Thank you.
Also, bandwidth info: the LUG is authorized up to 25 Mbps for the entire mirroring project.
Hardware specs, as per similar bugs: * AMD Athlon XP 2000+ * 256 MB RAM * 100 Mbps NIC (but rate-limited in the kernel) Connected to the University of Texas at Dallas' network. Supported maximum users: * 30 for rsync * 150 for HTTP * 200 for FTP (Although this machine has never had such a load, since this project is very new. I may have to decrease these at some point.) If the mirror gets a lot of use, we may be able to get a better machine to support the load.
Sorry for the delay in getting to this bug. I ran a check, and it looks good : * Timestamp on mirror.utdlug.org is Tue, 10 Oct 2006 03:07:54 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Tue Oct 10 05:07:35 UTC 2006 We'll run a few more before adding you in.
gentoo-portage (rsync) is a little stale though, can you check? IP: mirror.utdlug.org Checked at (UTC) Timestamp ================================================ 05:09:25 Mon, 09 Oct 2006 13:00:01 +0000 Remember that gentoo-portage is the portage tree, and will need to be synced twice every hour. More details at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml
I had Portage synchronize just once a day, since I am not yet an official mirror. I've changed it to synchronize at :02 and :32 every hour.
Distfiles is okay, slightly laggy though : * Timestamp on mirror.utdlug.org is Wed, 06 Dec 2006 00:08:05 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Wed Dec 6 05:08:33 UTC 2006 rsync seems to be fine. IP: mirror.utdlug.org Checked at (UTC) Timestamp ================================================ 05:10:51 Wed, 06 Dec 2006 05:00:01 +0000
Ran a check, both distfiles and portage look cool. * Timestamp on mirror.utdlug.org is Sun, 07 Jan 2007 04:08:10 +0000 * Current time in UTC is Sun Jan 7 06:04:23 UTC 2007 IP: mirror.utdlug.org Checked at (UTC) Timestamp ================================================ 06:05:09 Sun, 07 Jan 2007 06:00:01 +0000 Adding you in.
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your IP (129.110.111.9) to our access database, please start syncing to rsync1.us.gentoo.org per our Rsync document at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send our notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth! Please also monitor http://mirrorstats.gentoo.org/rsync as this application is used to keep track of the up-to-date nature of our mirrors You are mirror rsync5.us.gentoo.org in the rsync.us.gentoo.org rotation. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start syncing from masterdistfiles.gentoo.org as the email I have sent to you instructs. Please change this mirror from distfiles-only to full. Tonight I set up a four-disk RAID-5 with three new hard drives, so as of midnight (in 20 minutes) this mirror should be pulling everything but historical releases.
Also, please change the email address of the responsible party to mirroradmin@utdlug.org. Thank you. :-)
Done. Email address noted as well. Thanks
