The -r1 fixes an issue with ^M in patches. This has been in the tree for almost two years.

read irc logs of #gentoo-dev, i went into depth of the issue also, it's a matter of courtesy if you actually ask the maintainer of a package if it's ready to go stable before wasting the arch's time
