Description Luis Armendariz 2006-09-04 21:16:00 UTC
When installing sci-libs/atlas-3.6.0, emerge ends up in an infinite loop
because of the way it reads the answers for non-interactive builds.
The root cause is that g77 can't be found (it was renamed to gfortran
in gcc-4.1.1).

Trying to build atlas with `interactive=1 emerge sci-libs/atlas' doesn't work
either. The answer file is still created in src_compile() in the ebuild and
it's not possible to emerge atlas interactively.

Here is my output from 'emerge --info'

Hi Luis,

Thank your for your bug report. Unfortunately, sci-libs/atlas is fairly
old and not very well maintained by the sci-team any more. It should
probably be removed from the tree rather sooner than later.
If you need atlas/blas/cblas please emerge sci-libs/blas-atlas instead;
if you need lapack then sci-libs/lapack-atlas. Since you are using
gcc-4.1.1 you will have to use version 3.7.11. We are currently in the
process of moving this version into the stable tree but x86 isn't done
yet.

Thanks,
Markus

Markus,

I see. Thanks for the pointers! I'll try the sci-libs/blas-atlas
package instead.
