Description Harald Kubota 2006-09-01 23:14:19 UTC
When using crossdev-0.9.6 when trying to compile a sh4 cross compiler using
crossdev -v -b --stage3 --libc 0.9.8 --target sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc
(C++ does not work, which is another problem), after fixing the linux header compilation (that's a bug I filed yesterday), the resulting startup files for C programs like crt1.o are in a place which is not searched for by gcc:

harald@play1$ sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc-gcc -print-search-dirs
install: /usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/
programs: =/usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/:/usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/../../../../sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/bin/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/../../../../sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/bin/
libraries: =/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/../../../../sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/lib/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/:/usr/lib/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/../../../../sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/lib/

When trying to compile something, the linker complains about crt1.o not being found. Because it's somewhere else:

harald@play1$ locate crt1.o
/usr/lib/Mcrt1.o
/usr/lib/gcrt1.o
/usr/lib/crt1.o
/usr/lib/Scrt1.o
/usr/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/usr/lib/Scrt1.o
/usr/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/usr/lib/crt1.o

Workaround:

When moving (or symbolic linking) the object code files from /usr/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/usr/lib/ to /usr/libexec/gcc/sh4-gentoo-linux-uclibc/4.1.1/ then all is well.
