On Sun's Cobalt LX50 the 1.4_rc2 livecd hangs indefinetely (more than 30 minutes) after printing "Using module cloop.o". The CDROM drive seems to seek, but the system is inresponsive.

have you tried acpi=off and noapic on this box?

Yes. All the advertized no- flags (net,apic,acpi).
