If I type a smiley (:), :(, etc.) it doesn't display (either in ascii or as a graphic) and the Edit->Insert Smiley menu item is empty. Maybe a missing gnome dependency? I am not running gnome and have few gnome packages installed. (just what's necessary for gnumeric.)
How about posting ebuild version?
Sorry, it is net-im/gossip-0.14
Re-opening. Please let me know if you'd like any more info. Thanks.
I assume the smilies do show as ascii when you unselect the 'show smilies as images' preference ?
Yes, they do. Although only after restarting gossip. I've left that setting for now. Thanks.
Btw, I recently switched from debian to gentoo at work, and that's when I noticed the difference. (I kept the same homedir after OS change in case that matters.) Version 0.14 in both cases.
Works here with 0.17 (not in portage yet, but renaming 0.16 works, needs gtk+-2.10). Have you tested with 0.16?
I can't build 0.17 because my gtk is too old. I'm running mostly stable at work except a couple packages. Btw, on my home system (running unstable) I don't see this problem. Maybe it's a problem with one of the gnome packages or something.
Hmm, I just upgraded to 0.19 and it fixed the problem! Please close. Thanks.
apparently fixed
