The configure script tries to find out the default output file name, thus runs this: i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -O2 -march=pentium4 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe /usr/include/c++2: -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 /usr/include/c++2: -D_GNU_SOURCE=1 -L/usr/local/lib Obviously, the /usr/include/c++2: doesn't make any sense so it dies. How does it get there? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Download Gentoo install CD. 2.Install Gentoo. 3.Run 'emerge powermanga'. Actual Results: It dies while emerging media-libs/sdl-mixer-1.2.7. Expected Results: It should have installed powermanga. my guess is you have INCLUDE=/usr/include/c++2: in your environment if you posted `emerge -v --info`, that'd tell me for sure
