Description Stuart Herbert (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-28 03:25:52 UTC
Hi,

No gentoo-sources-2.6.17 (or vanilla kernel, for that matter) will boot off the onboard SATA on a VIA SP13000 board. The problem is caused by two patches which changed which PCI IDs get picked up for quirks mode.

With the two patches reverted, SP13000 boards boot once more.

This is likely to affect all mini-itx boards w/ onboard SATA.

Best regards,
Stu

Which gentoo-sources versions are you talking about? This is already fixed.

Oops, 2.6.17-r4 was fixed (current stable version) but the patch was unintentionally dropped in 2.6.17-r5. Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r7.
