Reopen with emerge --info and some errors, we can't guess.
Comment 2 Dylan Morrison 2006-08-24 16:35:45 UTC
Dude. This is on the INSTALL CD. There is no EMERGE. I gave you the only errors I recieved.
Comment 3 Dylan Morrison 2006-08-24 16:40:30 UTC
Whoever you are, please, for my sanity's sake, dont close a bug without reading the TITLE again.

I'll give you some more info, though its basically redundant

I boot into the minimalist install cd for PPC with 'dofirewire'. I get those error messages, and then I get absolutely nothing from dmesg upon inserting or removing firewire devices, nor do devices get created, nor does anything work. I dont know what you're expecting me to pull from my ass here, this is all I've got.
Comment 4 Stefan Richter 2007-01-06 13:18:48 UTC
This is obviuosly a bug of the PCI subsystem or lower-level subsystems of the kernel on the Minimalist Install CD. The resource length has to be 0x800 = 2048 bytes or more, not 0x101 = 257 bytes.

Do you know about kernels which successfully initialize the controller on this machine? BTW, I never heard of this bug before on the linux1394 mailinglists.
Comment 5 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-10 21:05:46 UTC
OK. The 2007.0 release is out and there's a new kernel on it, so if 2.6.19 has this fixed, then it's fixed in 2007.0 already.
Comment 6 Andrew Gaffney (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-13 00:54:35 UTC
Is this still an issue with 2008.0?
Comment 7 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-07-14 15:11:06 UTC
This should be resolved. If not, please reopen the bug.
