Description R. J. 2006-08-23 18:42:48 UTC
PIII 866MHz 128MB Gateway System

On initial boot of GenToo InstallCD, modules are scanned and loaded (ehci-hcd, hid, usb-storage...dm-mirror). Next prompts (with green double ">" signs) are "Activating udev", "Making tmpfs for /newroot" and "Attempting to mount CD:- /dev/hda".

It is at this point the systems hangs and apparently crashes. The hard drive has been wiped for a fresh install of GenToo, so if there is an error log to provide, I've no idea where to get it as it appears the load (to this point) has all been in memory.

HDD is primary-master, CDROM I'm booting the InstallCD is primary-slave.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! If there is any diagnostic info for me to provide further, just tell me how and it's done.

Similar bug report (#125799) - but issue seemed to be informally resolved by the submitter of the bug. Different processor too.

Thanks -
jasel

Well, wait like a week and you should have a shiny new 2006.1 CD set to test out.

2006.1 did it. I grabbed the minimal version and we're definitely past the CD mount issue.

Thanks.
