This happens on my box with gaim 2.0 beta 3-r1 and it also happens on my wifes windows laptop with gaim 2.0 beta 3.1 

Steps to reproduce

1- start gaim
2- Sign into AOL
3- Start a file transfer of a file over 10 megs
4- Gaim will crash

This also happens on my amd64 box.  I will try to get a backtrace from my amd64 machine later on today.

Considering that it's happening on windows as well, this is not a gentoo bug it's an upstream issue.
