Comment 7 Armin Mohring 2006-08-17 23:53:40 UTC
Problem only occurs, if the computer is started cold (power supply turned on, power switch pressed).
If the computer is restarted, the mouse works without any problem.
Comment 8 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-08-20 07:42:43 UTC
Is this reproducible on the latest development kernel, currently 2.6.18-rc4? If so, please attach full dmesg output from cold boot (where the problem exists) and full dmesg output from warm boot (where the mouse works OK).
Comment 9 Armin Mohring 2006-09-04 04:34:14 UTC

correction of comment #6.
Mouse only works, if it is unplugged and replugged during operation.
Then the mouse wheel works and continues to work, if the computer is rebooted (warm boot).

Has nothing to do with cold or warm boot. Sorry!
Comment 16 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-05 06:46:40 UTC
If any of the following options appear in your BIOS, please disable them:

USB legacy support
USB mouse support
USB keyboard support
USB input support
Comment 17 Armin Mohring 2006-09-05 07:19:08 UTC
Yes, of course.

Comment 19 Armin Mohring 2006-09-05 07:34:39 UTC
In this case, the keyboard won´t work to select the menu items in the grub menu.
Comment 20 Daniel Drake (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-05 19:03:34 UTC
That's expected. Can you either put the kernel you want to boot at the top, or use grub's "default" option to default to a non-top option, and just boot keyboardless through grub just temporarily? Your keyboard will then work once Linux has booted. At this point, see if the issue with the mouse wheel still exists.

dmesg with USB keyboard and mouse support disabled
Comment 22 Armin Mohring 2006-09-05 22:32:31 UTC
Mouse wheel does not work, even USB support is disabled in mainboard bios.

I have tested MS$ Intelli Explorer at a MS$ Windows Computer (Windows XPSP2). Here
the mouse works perfectly.

I think this mouse only works correctly with a MS$ OS. MS$ hardware is connected to MS$ OS.
