Read and follow this howto:

http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/java/java-upgrade.xml
Comment 3 David Morgan 2006-09-30 05:05:04 UTC
I'm not sure that this is invalid. I get the same errors, and I followed the java upgrade guide, and java-check-environment reports that everything's okay. So something somewhere doesn't seem to be working properly.

I just installed azureus as a test (and it also pulled in eclipse-ecj, swt and commonds-{lang,cli}), so my java stuff isn't completely broken...

Also, I already have eclipse-sdk-3.22 installed, I just can't rebuild it
[ebuild   R   ] dev-util/eclipse-sdk-3.2  USE="cairo* no-seamonkey opengl -gnome" 0 kB (though +/- cairo makes no difference)

I notice that the original reporter was using sun-jdk - maybe that's what triggers this.

End of emerge output:
!!! When you file a bug report, please include the following information:
GENTOO_VM=sun-jdk-1.4  CLASSPATH="" JAVA_HOME="/opt/sun-jdk-1.4.2.12"
JAVACFLAGS="-source 1.4 -target 1.4" COMPILER=""

Has nothing to do with java-check-environment, run java-1.5-fixer
Comment 5 David Morgan 2006-09-30 05:25:43 UTC
Okay, you're right. But, as far as I can see, java-1.5-fixer isn't mentioned in any of the documentation (or in any e{info,warn}s in dev-java/*)
