While detecting hardware and loading the appropriate modules the install CD hangs (and, given enough time, sporadically reboots the system?) while scanning for ata_piix. The bug closest to this already filed seems to be 103015 - using noload=ata_piix does allow me to boot the system, but then it halts with flashing red signs and complains about missing installation media (thus, I guess I need the ata_piix driver...). Steps to reproduce: 1. Insert CD. 2. Boot (from it). 3. Wait... Hardware: Abit AB9 Pro (Intel P965) Core 2 Duo Samsung SATA DVD-RW Samsung T133S harddrive The SATA drives are both connected to the Intel SATA controller in the south bridge. For example the Ubuntu-installation CD works great...
2006.1 is just around the corner, let's hope it fixes this.
Can you see if this is fixed in 2007.0 (or earlier) please? This should be FIXED but I cannot verify it myself.
