Description radfoj 2006-08-13 03:41:59 UTC
If watching any video with mplayer and alsa from -arch (1.0.12_rc1) through dmix, pausing it at any point produces

alsa-pause: pcm pause error: Input/output error

After resuming, it produces big noise, which depends how long video was paused (longer pause > longer noise) and in console is written:

alsa-resume: pcm resume error: Input/output error.

Then video continue playing.

Its already reported in ALSA bugtracking system (#2292) with attached patch. Its up to you to decide, if fix should be added to portage or not. Thanks

My eardrums would thank for a gentoo-sources in-kernel driver fix as well :)
Comment 2 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-01 21:39:53 UTC
Is this still an issue with 1.0.12/1.0.13 ?
Comment 3 Mart Raudsepp gentoo-dev 2006-10-02 03:46:03 UTC
in-kernel gentoo-sources 2.6.18 has it fixed at least. Can't tell myself about alsa-drivers one :(
Comment 4 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-10-02 04:00:18 UTC
Considering fixed, as 1.0.13 should be later than 2.6.18.
