This is an ATI FireGL V5200 on a Thinkpad T60p, which is supposedly supported by the binary ATI drivers (at least as of version 8.25.18).

That's the problem.  When the CD was made, this video card likely did not exist, so it isn't in the CD's PCI database.  That being said, this is really a WONTFIX because we are no longer offering the binary drivers on future releases, since doing so is actually a violation of the GPL.  Sorry... =[
