When I selected some of the widgets in Qt it causes Qt to crash.... Im running 
kde 3.1RC6 and the latest development version of Qt..... that ships with gentoo

where do you select widgets? maybe in designer? if so, this bug is a duplicate 
of bug #12964

What widgets? How/where do you select them? How do you know the crash is in qt itself? 
How about kde 3.1? What exact version of qt? Add the output of emerge info too.
