I use kinput2 & canna with customized kana.cbp for input method. When I use gedit, it freezes. Checked more, it freezes when the certain character is typed through kinput2, "("(for small "yu" on jp106 keyboards) ")" "{" and "}".
Comment 1 abo junghichi 2006-08-09 00:35:07 UTC
More tests show that I only need typing Shift key over kinput2 to freeze gedit.
Comment 2 cdep.illabout 2006-08-23 19:24:04 UTC
I can confirm this with gedit-2.14.3 and gedit-2.14.4. It happens regardless of whether or not gedit is compiled with the "python" and "spell" flags.

Also, it only locks up when "(", ")", "{", and "}" is typed into the main editing area. It doesn't lock up if any of those characters are typed into the "Find", "Save", or "Open" dialog boxes.

<=app-editors/gedit-2.12.1 is not affected.

I have enjoyed it until 15 Nov 2006 when gedit-2.12.* is outdated in the portage-tree. Thank you.
Now, do I have to test gedit-2.16.*, yet these are ~x86 ?

Please, try w/ >=gedit-2.16.2-r1
Comment 5 Rémi Cardona (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-09-02 13:12:29 UTC
Please try with newer versions of gedit (2.18.2 as of today). Don't hesitate to reopen if it happens again.
